Waratah Super Battery – Transmission Line Foundations
Lake Munmorah, NSW / Consolidated Power Projects (CPP) / Energy Infrastructure
The Challenge
To connect the Waratah Super Battery to the energy grid, a new transmission line was required — including the installation of heavy-duty monopole transmission towers. The project faced several constraints:
- Large-diameter bored foundations (2.4–2.7m up to 11m deep)
- Installation of permanent steel liners to engineering spec
- PFAS-contaminated ground conditions, requiring licensed waste handling and strict environmental protocols
“This project demanded precision and environmental care — IFS & The Milleen Group delivered both.”— Site Manager, CPP
The IFS Solution
IFS, using its expertise to support the greater Milleen Group umbrella, was contracted to deliver the critical foundation package. Our team provided:
- Specialist drilling and liner installation services using high-torque rigs
- Environmental management in collaboration with hazmat teams for PFAS containment and disposal
- Rapid coordination with CPP and site stakeholders to manage high-risk areas without delay
The Outcome
Despite complex geotechnical and environmental conditions, IFS delivered all foundations on time and to full engineering compliance. Our proactive site management minimised delays, upheld environmental integrity, and helped keep this vital energy infrastructure project on schedule.
